Panko is bread crumbs, which is essential for deep fry cooking in Japan. It's used for breading and deep frying because of the chunkier character with larger bits, that enables it to give the food an extremely crispy surface. To make the popular deep fried prok chops, in Japanese called tonkatsu, you need to first apply fine salt and pepper on both sides, then dip them in regular flour, then beaten eggs, and lastly in panko. Then they can be deep fried to get the perfect result. They are super delicious, especially when applying the right tonkatsu sauce from Bulldog that we also sell here in the shop, when they are steaming hot.
